The hour's drive from the city provided opportunity to see Cape Town's scenic beauty and the quietness of the farm provided such peaceful rest. Love it and missing it already. February 2013 Lisa Marcow It's a week ago that we woke up to the most deliciosuly fresh and healthy breakfast at Gooding's Grove - after what was an exceptional bday celebration in your barn. I had the best birthday i could ever have wished for and everything was just perfect - from the beautiful setting to the wind settling down to enjoy the eve overlooking the dam and mountains to the efficient service of mienie and her assistant who were like angels cleaning up and serving my guests, to the warmth and hospitality of mareaze and everyone else at goodings - i cannot falter a thing! We really felt at home at Goodings, the barn is just exceptional and the accomodation offers thoughtful personal touches in each room - my friends and i cannot wait to return - hopefully we wont make too much noise next time round - even mareaze being tolerant of this, shows how welcoming Goodings groves really is. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon and thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my 40th birthday celebration a dream come true! Highly recommend to all travelers. 18/05/2012 Dickie & Dawn Marks Apologies for taking so long to e-mail you our heartfelt thanks for a wonderful 2 night stay at your lovely establishment. We just lapped up the hospitality and the comfort as well as the peaceful setting amongst the olive trees – there was some distant drumming in the night but even that did not put a damper on our weekend. Dawn & I have been celebrating our wedding anniversary by spending weekends at various Bed & Breakfasts, Hotels and Holiday establishments and both agree that our stay at Goodings Groves was the best by far. Your personal touch and friendly service was really appreciated and a great big Thank you “man up” omelette – the breakfasts were magnificent and so special to have our family join us on the Sunday - you really went out of your way to make them feel welcome especially our granddaughter Katie. We loved our rooms – we were really blessed to be able to try both of them. Your recommendation regarding the Restaurants (Allora & French Connection) that we visited were also spot on, both were well priced and their food most enjoyable. The muesli which we bought was unfortunately inadequate and was consumed by day 2 – next time I’m in Franschhoek I’ll definitely pop in for more. The olives and the rusks have also long been eaten and so we will have to make a plan to come and stay over once again. 15/03/2012 MonicaVW After coming from a guesthouse with not much service or personal touch, this place was a total change for the good! The location is just beautiful, our rooms were immaculate with a nice view over the farm and surrounding mountains. We were welcomed by Mareaze (such a lovely host) with coffee & tea and some nice scones. Then we could use the bikes to explore the lovely village and the wineries around the farm of which La Motte did impress us the most! As we liked the guesthouse, we decided to return early and spend some time at the pool watching the sun go down with a complimentary glass of nice wine and some olives. That really made our day! Mareaze did organize a restaurant for us in the evening including a pick up and drop off which was great as we could both drink. The breakfast was just amazing; so much choice and you should really try the fluffy omelette as that was just divine. We were sad to leave already after only one night and we definitly would have stayed longer if we could have! We have already recommended this place to friends who are going to South Africa next week and will keep on recommending this place to anyone we talk to! 09/03/2012 Beautiful Fell in love with Goodings! Such a relaxing and homely guesthouse. Located just outside the village. Perfect base for all the vineyards and lovely views of mountains. Our room was stylish and airy. Mareaze is a lovely host, helpful and very friendly, will be recommending to friends for their honeymoon - jealous I can't go with them! 23/01/2012 “If you LOVE Olives - this is the Place for you!” Wine, Cheese, Bread & Olives go hand & hand to me. Thus this was the perfect place to stay at. The Guest house is perfectly situated just outside of Franschoek, and right next to the La Motte wine estate - which sets the benchmark for wine tasting experiences! The Guest house is beautifully decorated, rooms are spacious & comfortable - which worked perfectly for us traveling with a toddler! The manager of the guest house, Mareaze is a gracious hostess who went out of her way to make sure we experienced the perfect "homely" experience on the olive farm. Even offering to take our toddler off our hands for 30 min to go feed the chickens! 30 min to mom & dad to relax is priceless!!! They also grow & bottle their own olives, and as someone who really enjoys eating & tasting different olives, these were DELICIOUS!
